Broadcast Overlays FAQ
Broadcast Overlays FAQ
What is the overlay URL and where do I find it?
Your overlay URL is available in the ScoreBird dashboard under Overlays. It looks like https://overlay.scorebird.com/v/<your-id>. This URL updates in real time as your scoreboard changes — add it as a browser source in OBS, vMix, or any other software that supports browser inputs.
Does the overlay work with OBS Studio?
Yes. Add a Browser Source in OBS, paste your overlay URL, and set the width and height to match your stream resolution (typically 1920×1080). Enable Shutdown source when not visible and Refresh browser when scene becomes active for best performance. See the full OBS setup guide.
Can I customize the overlay colors and layout?
Basic customization (colors, font size, position) is available in the ScoreBird dashboard under Overlay Settings. Advanced CSS customization is supported — contact support for documentation on the overlay's CSS class structure.
Do I need ScoreBird running on a separate computer?
No. The NeST device handles all scoreboard communication and data transmission independently. Your broadcast computer only needs to display the overlay URL in your streaming software — no ScoreBird software needs to run alongside OBS or vMix.
The overlay shows stale or no data during my stream. What's wrong?
The most common cause is a browser source cache. In OBS, right-click the browser source and select Interact, then press F5 to force a reload. In vMix, close and re-add the web browser input. If the problem persists, check the NeST status LED — it should be solid green during an active game.
